Strength training is one of the most powerful tools available in modern musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Yet many clinicians still feel uncertain about how to safely prescribe strengthening programs for patients with pain, injury, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
This evidence-based CPD module explores the role of progressive resistance training within clinical rehabilitation. Drawing on current research in exercise science, tendon rehabilitation, and pain science, the lecture examines how strengthening can be safely integrated into clinical practice to improve tissue capacity, reduce injury risk, and support long-term patient outcomes.
Clinicians will learn how progressive loading influences tendon, muscle, and connective tissue adaptation, why early strength gains are largely driven by neural mechanisms, and how controlled loading can be used safely in patients experiencing pain.
