Plantar Fasciitis: An Osteopathic Perspective and Exercise Rehabilitation
Plantar heel pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints seen in clinical practice, yet it is often misunderstood and inconsistently managed. This lecture explores plantar fasciitis from an osteopathic perspective, integrating current research evidence with practical clinical reasoning.
In this one-hour CPD lecture, Dr Phillip Deam examines the underlying mechanisms of plantar heel pain, the role of mechanical loading in plantar fascia pathology, and the clinical factors that commonly contribute to symptom persistence. The lecture reviews current systematic reviews, clinical guidelines, and rehabilitation research to help clinicians better understand which interventions are most likely to support recovery.
Participants will explore evidence-informed strategies for assessment, diagnosis, and management, including exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy integration, and load management approaches. The lecture also discusses key red flags and differential diagnoses to ensure safe clinical decision making.
Designed for osteopaths and other musculoskeletal clinicians, this session provides practical insights that can be immediately applied in clinical practice while maintaining alignment with evidence-based care.
