In this one-hour CPD lecture, Dr Phillip Deam explores the relationship between patient mental health and musculoskeletal pain outcomes through a biopsychosocial lens. Drawing on current research and clinical guidelines, the lecture examines how psychological factors affect pain perception, rehabilitation engagement, and long-term recovery.
The session also discusses practical strategies for recognising psychosocial risk factors in clinical practice, communicating effectively with patients experiencing distress, and integrating osteopathic principles with contemporary evidence-based care.
